It is hard to believe that this is my 40th year teaching the biological sciences. Many of the concepts I am teaching were not known when I first began my career in 1969 at North Hollywood High School. My professional career as a science educator has evolved along with some of the most amazing discoveries and advances in the biomedical fields. During my career, I have had the privilege of meeting and sometimes studying under some of the most successful scientists in our time, including Dr. James Watson and Francis Crick, the discoverers of the structure of DNA and the pioneers in modern DNA technology.
When I am not teaching, I am riding my mountain bike, fishing, reading, photographing, videoing and traveling with my wife Claudia and visiting our grandchildren in Seattle.
I wish you all a very successful academic year.
